Advantage Tennis Academy is proud to be based at The Avenue Lawn Tennis & Squash Club, Havant.
A comprehensive guide to all our coaching, competitive and social tennis
at the Avenue Lawn Tennis & Squash Club for the 2010 season. The
Academy is run by Roger & Tracy Manvell and are well supported by 4
other LTA coaches. As with all L.T.A. coaches, we are checked by the
criminal records bureau and carry a first aid certificate. We provide "quaIity coaching with qualified coaches".
The Academy was awarded "County Development Programme of the
Year" for its efforts in promoting tennis to a wider audience through
our schools programme and developing a coaching and competitive
structure to nurture and challenge every player.
This year each player in the programme will receive a competition
voucher, every term, to use at any of our regular tournaments. There is a
variety of events scheduled to give all players an opportunity to
compete. A new on-line entry system to many events will make getting
involved much easier.
For those wishing to get fit for tennis or use tennis to get fit we are now
running regular cardio tennis classes. Lasting an hour this class is ideal
for both experienced players and people new to the game.
The benefits of a dynamic tennis academy can be seen through
greater participation at all levels, many adult and junior students now engaged in Club & Team activities and an increase in Club
memberships.

LTA Membership and Ratings
If you are an Avenue member, LTA British Tennis Membership is FREE! People who sigh up will get access to Wimbledon Club ballot, player ratings, regular communications from the LTA and opportunities to add on packages (including ACE magazine, Grand Slam Tours and Winbledon extras packages). An LTA rating is essential for those players (adult and junior) wishing to compete in external competitions.
With the constant introduction of new events into the programme
good communication is vital. Activities and events will be promoted through
this web site, club newsletters, new quarterly Academy newsletters and
through e-mail. (Please remember to add your e-mail address on the next
booking form). We also provide a wide range of information, including
local tournaments from the pro shop.
Please note that the club offers a "Mini Membership" for
juniors under the age of 10 years. Member benefits include, member rates
on all coaching courses, matchplay and team tennis events, regular mini
tennis bulletins and free tournaments. Designed to help encourage children
play more, through joining supervised events, club membership is good
for long term player development and great value.

Penfold’s Photography is a small Hampshire based business in it’s third year of trading, although Mike Penfold-Green has had over 20 years experience of photography including weddings, freelance newspaper work and many years working as official photographer for a number of youth organisations, including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet force. Mike has concentrated on wedding photography over the past five years and due to the volume of work has now been able to employ an additional photographer, Chris Rouse, based on the Isle of Wight. Mike has recently been working closely with The House of Weddings in Havant as their main Package photographer. The company is expanding all the time and now carries out numerous commercial assignments. Penfold’s photography is delighted to be able to sponsor The Avenues’s Advantage Tennis Academy for the third year running, enabling the Academy to expand its ever increasing tournament schedule to now include events for all ages during the school half terms. Having a son who has been a member of the club for the past 6 years and who thoroughly enjoys the team spirit and atmosphere of these events. These tournaments are extremely useful in enabling the children to gain experience and be better equipped to do well in other tournaments in the region. Mike is a member of the Federation of Small Business for Hampshire, The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers and the British Portrait Photographers Association. Also as a member of the Cadet Force Mike has an up to date CRB certificates.
